Carpenter Apprentice
KBS is recruiting for dependable Carpenter Apprentices with a strong work ethic, willingness to learn and a positive attitude. Our Carpenter Apprentices complete on the job training with a variety of carpentry tasks in a range of settings, including wall layout, framing, sheet rocking, drywall finishing, rough carpentry, and concrete work. They may also assist with the installation of items such as acoustical ceilings, bathroom partitions, doors and hardware, and casework and trims.
Carpenter Apprentices also attend after hours classroom instruction made up of topics such as OSHA 10, Critical Environment Construction, tool and equipment training, and specific scopes of work that KBS manages each day.
About the Carpenter Apprenticeship Program
KBS Constructors, Inc. is proud to have an in-house Carpetner Apprecenticeship Program accredited with the State of Kansas Department of Commerce. The program is based on both after hours class time and on the job training while working for KBS. Candidates who enter and complete the required training of this four-year program receive an industry recognized Journeyman Carpenter Certificate.
Responsibilities
- Execute tasks and activities as directed and according to plans and specifications provided by the superintendent.
- Assists with wall layout, framing, sheet rocking, drywall finishing, rough carpentry, and concrete work. Assists with installing acoustical ceilings, bathroom partitions, doors and hardware, casework and trims.
- Assists with ensuring compliance with quality and production standards established by the superintendent’s task plans.
- Fosters a positive attitude within the crew.
- Complies with safety policies.
- Keeps jobsite clean and free of debris as needed for a safe environment.
- Performs other related duties and responsibilities as directed by superintendent.
Skills
- Attend apprenticeship classes with a high rate of attendance for up to 4 years based on prior experience.
- Grasp carpentry skills through on-the-job training.
- Document and submit work experience through on-the-job monthly reports.
- Successfully complete periodic exams with a score of 70% or higher.
- Know, understand, and live the KBS Mission, Vision, and Core Values and use them to guide daily activities.
- Consistently show up on time and ready to work productively each day.

Education and Experience
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must have high school diploma or GED.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must pass background and drug screening.
